Welcome to the self-promotion guide for new librarians. This is a space for more experienced librarians, writers and speakers to offer information to those of us just starting out. Tell us what you wish you had known when you were getting started in the profession.
Here are the categories. Feel free to add more!
The Almighty Dollar -- Getting paid what you're worth (at work, for articles, for speaking gigs, etc.)
Speaking -- Tips on getting speaking gigs, which conferences are the best to speak for, etc.
Writing -- Tips on getting started in the publishing world.
Promoting Yourself -- getting your work noticed by your employers, getting your work noticed online, promoting your blog, etc.
Resources -- books, blogs, and other resources to help you help yourself.
Note: Since I understand that some topics might require anonymity, feel free to register a username that could not be associated with you. When you register, all you need to do is create a username, a password (which you will enter twice) and that's it. You don't need to enter your e-mail address or give any identifying information. This is a space where you can tell it like it is without worrying about being "out-ed."
